Lorient to Morlaix - Days 28-31

Lorient was a navy town.  I had been having trouble with my gears and shifters so I dropped the bicycle at a bike shop (Tempo Velo) and then we headed to the waterfront. We went through an exhibit of Neolithic artifacts and information that had a virtual reality tour of a Neolithic cave.

The next day we left for le Faouet mostly on small roads which rolercoastered up and down long hills. At mid day it rained heavily so we sat in a bus stop shelter for lunch. We rode 43 km with EG of 1,540 ft.  Arrived at our chambres d'Hotes with RoseAnne and Remi our hosts. They made dinner since the house is just outside the town.

The next morning we left and headed north and uphill for another 40 km climbing long hills up and down again. EG was 1,260 ft. Started to rain again at mid-day and continued off and on for the rest of the ride. We run into the Nantes-Brest canal and followed the path and arrived in Kervennec outside of Carhaix-Plouguer and was amazed at the sight of our chambers d'Hotes, more like a small medieval castle with beautiful grounds.

This morning we left Kervannec and heads north again on small roads for 20 km. Then found the bike path to Morlaix. The path started to climb steadily after a few kms and in the next 10 km went up 500 ft and then we were treated to a 10 km downhill. We rode 53 km with an EG of 1,565 ft to arrive in Morlaix and had to go down to almost water level at times using a set of stairs to then climb back up 350 ft and ride an elevator to go across the train tracks. To arrive at our chambres d'Hotes which again looks like a small mediaeval castle and up 45 steps with all the luggage to our room.
