We had a few days of high temperatures, so we left Villandry at 9 am. Following the trail and roads, stopping a few times to find lunch. Found a picnic area along the road for lunch. Took a detour to see the Chateau at Usse, the inspiration for the sleeping beauty story. Then followed the road for a while before joining the trail again.
Got to our hotel in Saumur at 2 pm to find out they didn't open until 4 pm. It was over 90 degrees and very hot. We rode 56 km and EG of 381. We sat on the door steps for a while before retreating to the air conditioned visitor information center. It turned out room was on the top floor without air conditionning. It was an oven up there. The next day we visited the Saumur castle which still has a lot of its medieval elements.
The next day we started early again at 9 am as the temperature by 4 pm hit 104 degrees. We stoped at a bakery and bought lunch and had lunch in a small town park under a willow tree. Had to stop a few times under shades to cool off as we were over heating.
We arrived at 2 pm after riding 52 km and EG of 509 ft. Today we visited the Angers medieval castle and museum of art in Angers and walked around town.
