Tour of Tuscany – May 2016
Our tour of Tuscany began in City of Lucca in NW Tuscany. From Lucca we traveled east on Via Lucchese/Via Pesciatina to hilltop town of Montecarlo where we stopped for lunch.
The next morning, from Villa Barcali we traveled all the way
to Florence (Firenze) by the way of Via Provinciale Pratese, a distance of 45 km, & EG 45 m. In
Florence we stayed at Hotel Bavaria for two nights and visited the sights.
From Florence we travelled to Villa Rosa de Boscorotondo, via SR 222 Chiantigiana, where we spent the night. This was following a portion of Giro d’Italia. This was a total of 43 km, and 610 m EG.
The next day we rode to Siena, and stayed at Il Chiostro Del Carmine,
Via Della Diana, visiting the sights. Another
hilly day of 35 km and EG 600 m. We
stayed in Siena for two nights.
Our next stop was San Gimignano, a hilly 45 km and EG of 615 m.
From San Gimignano, we headed to Volterra, for one more night at Park
Hotel Le Fonti, Via Di Fontecorrenti.
This was a hilly 25 km ride with EG of 660 m.
Our next stop was La Sorgente, Via Volterrana Loc Podere San Tommaso in Capannoli. A distance of 35 km and EG of 70 m.
From Capannoli going north, our next stop for two nights was Rosso di
Sera Tuscany, Via Mino Rosi in Pisa. A
distance of 40 km & EG of 30 m.
After two nights in Pisa and visiting the sights in Pisa, we headed north to Lucca again. A distance of 20 km and EG 15 m.
